Need ideas to build a pc that will be centered around capturing live video. Cameras will most likely be high-res, high quality webcams for easy software advisements. Looking to a quad core but interested in finding out if gpus would be the better investment. If possible, can i take load off the cpu running the software? Or am i just dreaming?

As far as I'm aware video capture doesn't require vast amounts of CPU usage anyway, it's encoding it to other formats that does, and that doesn't have to be done on the fly (in reality, it can't)

Bear in mind even a moderately expensive 2.66Ghz Core 2 Quad is a full seven or eight times as powerful as a 3Ghz P4.
