Hello I have just bought myself a new AV Receiver (Yamaha). I wanted to ask what is perhaps a stupid question but I will ask it anyway. Round the back of the unit are all the usual bells and whistles (inputs for various elements). If, for example, I use the HDMI DVD input for an HDMI DVD Player does that mean that the Component DVD input and Standard DVD input can no longer be used? Does it not all come down to the remote. When I select DVD on the remote what would happen if that option was occupied (round the back) with both HDMI and Component. Is it an obvious (and stupid) question or can I use these inputs for other elements? Hope that makes sense and thanks in advance for any responses. Cheers FG1068
If you are using the HDMI input, there's no need to use the component inputs (red, blue and green inputs), for the same piece of equipment. Save the component inputs to use with something else. If you assigned the HDMI input to DVD player, the component inputs will be useless for that dvd player anyway.
Thanks for the information. I have set things up with my PS3 in my DVD HDMI input. The other HDMI is reserved for Sky TV when we get the HD version. Can I ask another question. When I select DVD on my remote which fires up the PS3 and select the appropriate HDMI option via my TV there is a pause for a moment and a couple of sharp cracks from the speakers before things get going. Might you have any idea what is causing this to happen? Regards Frazer
