Alright, I tried to backup Halo 2 to my harddrive and play it off of there. I ftped all the files needed(everything except for the maps with numbers in front). When I go to start up the game, it freezes at the Microsoft Game Studios intro screen. The sound repeats itself and the picture just stays there. What went wrong? I even tried downloading a custom intro, but that froze as well.

It works fine when I use the CD, but not when I try to play from the harddrive.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Do you have a mod chip with it's latest BIOS flashed?

Yeah, atleast i think it it the newest. I'm using the x3 bios with a evo-x dashboard which might be the problem. My microsoft dash is gone :-\. Could that be doing it?

edit: i cleared my cache files and got past the intro.. but now its giving me the dirty disc error after loading

    Hey derek723,

Thanks for the tip about clearing out your cache files folder. It has helped me to run many games that I could not get to work before.

Since you have a disc that plays fine, why not rip the disc to your xbox instead of ftping files from your PC? You may get better results.

NOTE: The latest X3 BIOS are X3: 3294

I don't really know how to directly rip it to the xbox. What I did was FTP over to the PC, then FTPed back to the xbox. Is there a way to just go straight from the CD to the harddrive with Halo 2 being so big?

Yes but you need to have enough space on your xbox hdd. If you have a factory xbox hdd, you can try this:

    What you need:
    1) Modded Xbox with Evox dash (1.8.1812 or later) installed.
    2) A 10 GB HD (The one that comes preinstalled in any Xbox).
    3) FTP ability and knowhow.
    4) About 10 min.

    1) Connect your pc to your xbox using your favorite ftp client (eg. FlashFXP).
    2) Create a backup copy of your evox.ini file.
    3) Create a new evox.ini based on your backup and replace everything under "[Menu]" with :

For EvolutionX version 1.8.2594 till v1.8.3285

    Section "Root"

    Item "MS Dashboard",@3
    Item "Reboot",@5
    Item "Power Off",@10
    Item "Format F:",@210

    [Action_10]

    Info "Format F"
    Warning "This will format F"
    Progress "Formatting F"

    This will format F:\

    Format f:

For EvolutionX v1.8.3682 or higher (newer)

    Section "Root"

    Item "MS Dashboard",ID_MS_Dash
    Item "Reboot",ID_Quick_Reboot
    Item "Power Off",ID_Power_Off
    Item "Format F:",@210

    [Action_10]

    Info "Format F"
    Warning "This will format F"
    Progress "Formatting F"

    This will format F:\

    Format f:

    4) Save your changes and FTP it back to the Xbox. (or in FlashFXP you could just open it in edit mode)
    5) Reboot your Xbox, select "Format F:"
    6) Select Yes (warning anything on F:\ will be erased)
    7) Wait 1/2 a second
    8) FTP your original evox.ini file
    9) Reboot

You should now have more space on your original Xbox HD.
