    Hi,

I have bought a western digital internal hard disk in which I want it to make it into a USB external hard disk.

I have bought the external hard disk casing and have carefully fix it as the external disk.

But when I plug in it to my pc the BIO system can detect the harddisk.

and when it boot up my vista OS said the device is ready to use.

When I click my the icon my computer I cannot see this USB harddisk icon.

Do I need to format the new hard disk that I made into external harddisk before I begin to use it?

If so, can anyone show me step by step how are the proceedures I need to take in order to make it recognise by vista OS or xp.

Your urgent reply well be greatly appreciated.

    Anyone please help.

This is rather quite urgent to me.

    Thank you.

    When you go to:

Right click on "my computer" >> manage >> disk management

Does it show the disk there and if it does what does it say there?
