I have a mother board with Sata connections and 1 IDE connection. Right now I have 2 DVD Burns connected in the IDE slot and 2 Hard Drives and I DVD Rom in the Sata connection.

I want to take out 1 of the DVD Burners and replace it with another Hard Drive. So I wil have 1DVD Burner and 1 Hard Drive on the same IDE connection. I tried it and it was very slow to boot up but once I was in the new drive showed up and evrything was working but again it was slow.

To do this does it matter where (dvd burner or hard drive) is one the IDE cable and does it matter which is master or slave or should they both be slaves?

    thank you

They will have to be either one master one slave, or both cable select. Do you not have any other S-ATA ports?
