Hi Long story but was basically was DJ'ing ouside a few weeks back using laptop & external hard drive when it started to rain !! Thought I had saved everything but left USB cable outside in rain all night aswell as plug adaptor for power supply which was subsquently run over ! Anyway ordered whole new power supply BUT now Hard Drive wont do anything Hard drive is a Hitachi 1 TB simple drive Looking closely at the new power supply though it has slighly different specs - would this cause HD not to work ? The power supply has a UK plug adaptor which slides on to power supply My original power supply states; input 100-240v 50-60hz 0.5a max output 12v 1.5a New one states; input 100-240v 50-60hz 0.65a max 51-80va output 12v 2a Could the slight differences be the reason why my HD does nothing ?? Could a slight amount of water fried the HD ? Is there any way to recover data ? Thanks
new adapter is good. did you try another usb cable? when just connected to the external power, does the drive make any noise at all? any lights on?
