Has anyone used a decently priced hard drive repair service that you can recommend. MY harddrive died all of a sudden. Turned system on and checked email. Shutdown computer and went out for a couple hours and then came back in and turned it back on AND....Click, click, click, click. Computer was under warranty but company would only replace HD said they could not recommend one to fix it. Repair person said that it could be done because head motor (servo motor) was bad. Just wondered? Thanks everyone.

You can do it yourself. Give ad in news-papers that you're buying similar model, defected. Find one with a good motor and change it.

motor is inside the drive, will void the warranty so no replacement & is a lot harder to just replace a motor as the platters are attached to the motor shaft plus aligning the heads again
