im a noob and i have recently registered to this site. I recently found out how to convert mkv to mp4 but i need to find a way of how to add subtitles? Thank you
What do you use to convert the MKV to mp4( it might be possible to add the subtitles in the same step)?. Give Yamb a try. Edit: re-read the title, hard sub needed. Yamb won't work(adds removable subs). Not sure how to hardcode subs in and mp4, but you could convert the MKV to AVI instead. Since hardcoding requires re-compression, might as well change the container to something more flexible.
any fast, no-loss converting software from mkv to avi? also, what software i use to put in the subtitles. thanks one more thing, does 360 support subtitles?
1.) Depending on what your video stream is, it can be easy or extremely difficult. If the video in the .mkv is an .avi video stream, you can easily remux it from .mkv to .avi. If it's something else like .h264, then you'll need to convert. And that'll take a fair bit of time. 2.) Again, depending on the video stream, you can use a variety of programs. Honestly, I'd suggest using Avisynth + any encoding program. It's complicated, but it allows you to work with almost any video stream. 3.) I'm not sure if the 360 supports them or not. I know the PS3 only supports switchable subs in a Blu-Ray folder or a DivX file. Maybe it's the same with the 360...
