    Hi,
I have about 30 mkv files (and an avi) all with embedded subtitles as a seperate track of each file. I need to convert them to my iPod, but I need the subtitles hardcoded.
How do I do this, and what program will I need?
    Thanks

To hardcode subs you're going to have to re-encode the mkv.

My recommendation would be Handbrake as it is a very simple yet powerful tool, and it comes with iPod presets. All you have to do is open the mkv, select the iPod preset, select the 'Subtitles' tab and check the 'Burned In' checkbox, then hit 'Add To Queue'. Once all of your mkvs are loaded just hit the 'Encode' button on the queue list. Done.
