I plan on hardsubbing a video and I know how to use avisynth and feed the .avs file to VirtualDub but I don't know the settings that I should use on Xvid Codec for VirtualDub.

I inserted a DVD check its properties on media player classic
    Video: MPEG2 Video 720x480 (16:9) 29.97fps 8912Kbps [Video]
    Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 448Kbps [Audio]
    Subtitle: DVD Subpicture [Subtitle]

I tried setting the 8000 bitrate on Xvid codec on VirtualDub and the expected file size goes to about 6GB so I stopped it.

My question is that what are the settings should I use on Xvid codec on Virtual Dub when Hardsubbing the video that I plan to burn using ConvertXtoDvd 3.

    A confusing post.
Your intent is to go back to a 720x480 DVD again after all this?

The DVD I inserted is not the video I'm trying to hardsub.
I was just trying to see the settings or properties of a DVD video so that I will know the settings that I should use for my other video.

I'm trying to hard sub a video not from the DVD.
