If you remove it, as long as the HDD isn't unlocked you should be fine!

    Chuckhead..thanks for the reply

When i try to turn the system on its kinda tries to start up but then it turns right back off again...also when i eject the disk sometime its stays on but nothing goes on the screen i checked all the wires and even used my own xbox on the wires that hes using
also the xenium gold 24k has a red light on it not to sure if this means anything...also when i had the power on it and the disk drive removed i unplugged the chip from the board the xbox logo started up like noral and then went into a error 5 message...any ideas before i remove the chip...once removed and if it works i wil be softmodding it

also are u able to give me a little step by step on how to do this
    thanks

Error 5 mean it's unlocked! Lock it again with a 'Slayers' disc prior to removing the modchip! It will then boot normally!

wait i am having a similar problem... when i removed my aladdin modchip (because of its corrupted BIOS), I went into error 5 'cause I don't lock my HD! I think I remember flashing the EEPROM with the eeprom.bin included with Configmagic...

    My question:
Will the EEPROM I wrote to the xbox still be the same even if it's not modded now? If it doesn't, then I can just use xboxhdm to lock my hd with the eeprom.bin included with configmagic... right?

YES.. as long as you are sure that's what you did.

If it doesn't work (error6) you will need to fit a chip again OR build an eeprom reader and find out what is in that eeprom.

I'm pretty sure that I did it because I have a flash memory of configmagic saying all of them were like zeroes including the HDD Key...
I will try it since it's my only choice...
If it doesn't work then I will just try to build the EEPROM reader.
