Hello I have a 160GB hardrive and when i click on C; properties it says I only have a 132GB hardrive..Where is the rest? Thats 23 GB just missing. I have XP s2..When I had XPs1 it was the same...Where did it go help!!!!
I really don't know anything about pcs but i know your not suppose to losse that much space! or are you?? LOL!!! THANKS
Hard drive manufacturers market drives in terms of decimal (base 10) capacity. In decimal notation, one megabyte (MB) is equal to 1,000,000 bytes, and one Gigabyte (GB) is equal to 1,000,000,000 bytes. System BIOS, and Windows use the binary (base 2) numbering system. In the binary numbering system, one megabyte is equal to 1,048,576 bytes, and one gigabyte is equal to 1,073,741,824 bytes. Example: A 40 GB hard drive is approximately 40,000,000,000 bytes (40 x 1,000,000,000). 40,000,000,000 / 1,048,576 = 38,162 megabytes Using this calculation yours is still showing lesser so i would assume you have free space on your disk possibly were files were copied to your hdd during setup. try using a disk management tool like partition magic too recover the free space on your disk. _X_X_X_X_X_[small][/small]
