Hey guys. I performed a hardware modification on my xbox about a year ago - I installed a hardware mod chip and larger hard drive. I can't remember exactly how large the HD was, but it's showing 120 gb free, so I'm assuming it's around a 130 gb hard drive. Again, I can't remember what the specific mod chip was, but it's showing 'Xenium OS v2.3.0' on startup. I have some extra hardware and about 17 games to go along with it, so I'm looking to sale. Is it legit to sale one of these on something like ebay? I suppose the fact that it has a larger HD should help increase the value, correct? Should I mention the type of mod chip in the description? Also, I never tried logging into XBox live after installing the chip. Is it possible to do with this chip? Any advice on how to sell one of these would be appreciated; I want to make sure that the buyer understands what they are getting, that it's not a stock XBOX. And if they are not going to be able to use XBox Live, I want to make sure they understand that as well. Thanks for any help!
you Can't sell modded consoles or products on Ebay, it's considered piracy/promotion of piracy and they'll cancel the auction. don't expect to get any significant value increase just because it's modded, it actually decreases the value to an extent. you can play XBL but you'll eventually get banned, sometimes sooner then later so most people have a 2nd unmodded box for XBL play. also if the 17 games are not originals then don't try and jack the price to someone based on that, those are simply 'stolen' merchandise that you shouldn't be trying to profit from. your best bet for resale is a newsgroup or online 'for sale' forum. allot of the bulletin boards have for sale sections where modded consoles are allowed. kc
Thanks for the info KC. Actually all of the games have the boxes and manuals, so they're definately the originals! Maybe I'm better off trying to sale the games on EBay and the modded xbox on a forum... good luck with it either way, most of the time it's not worth while, games usually don't bring a fair enough price to even fool with the hassle of shipping them. kc
