Hi all, This 26" LCD comes with an integral DVD player, it is nice and slim and am looking to site it on the bedroom wall. Does anyone have one or know a bit about DMTECH, i've searched the net and can't find a dicky bird about them. Basically before i fork out £800 bucks, Is it any good? Cheers. Cardiffboy
I did some searching and found their website: http://www.dmtech.co.kr/English/index.asp They are a Korean company which specializes in video conferencing software so I would be careful since they don't specialize in making LCDs. The specs on the tv look pretty good for the price but you never know. I'm not a big fan of buying integrated products (tv with built in dvd) DVD most like not of high quality. Also it is a NTSC tv so make sure you will be using it in the US or Japan. I myself purchased an APEX 27" LCD. You can find it at circuit city. Apex is not the best know brand for LCDs but after careful research and not wanting to spend more than a grand I went ahead and bought it. I have had it about 2 months now and I am very happy with it. The pic is awesome with high definition. Anyway I would say if you do buy this tv and it sucks don't be surprised. The best thing to do is try and find people who have bought this tv and see their opinion although that will be very hard with this little known company. Good luck. If you do buy it post a review.
I am also looking for an LCD TV and came across the DMTECH in Comet. The picture on the display set was absolutely amazing, better than sets costing a lot more money.I'm not too sure about the built-in DVD player, I think it is just a gimmick and would have been better not added with the price reduced to suit. This TV looks to have a good specification, with 1366 x 768 pixels, which again is better than a lot of more expensive TV's. The only thing I am not sure about is the long term reliability, but the only way to find out about that it to buy one I suppose. £799.00 is a lot to spend on an experiment. If anyone out there has one of these TV's it would be good to hear from them.
Me again, I decided not to go with an unknown brand and especially one with an integral DVD player. I took some advice that if the player breaks the whole thing is useless. I know the manager of the SONY store in Cardiff who did me a deal on a 26" PHILIPS LCD it has a good spec and after mounting it on the bedroom wall i'm very pleased with the results. I paid the same as the DMTECH price, (bargain). I looked also in Argos and the same one is in there for £1799. I'm well chuffed as you can imagine. i also bought a PHILIPS VL 1400 (tv sender) this transmits whatever video source (up to 4) you have downstairs, upstairs. I haven't managed to tune in the remote yet but so far the picture is crystal clear with awesome sound to boot!!! Dixons sell them for £120. Good old ebay sorted me one for £70. I'll put a thread in once it's up and running 100% and advise others of all the probs i faced. Cheers. Cardiffboy.
Nice one Cardiffboy. Hope all is well with your new gear. Please do let us know how it all pans out. Personally I have a problem with Philips equipment, I think they have major problems with their quality control but their LCD tv's do have good reviews, only time will tell. For my own part I'm no longer interested in the DMTECH set, I'm looking more towards the Toshiba 27" or 30" sets (a little more money but a lot more peace of mind). So if anybody out there has one of the above mentioned Toshibas please let us have their verdict. All the very best to everyone.
Cardifboy, Your telling me that you got a Phillips 26" LCD for $800. If so thats a great price. I would imagine that they go for at least $1500. Do you know what the retail price is? Also do you have the model # so I can check out the specs? Thanks. I think you did right by not getting the DMTech.
Hi again, The model number is 26PF8946 and i bought it for £799. The picture quality is superb even though i'm sending the signal via radio frequency. The sound is awesome to! I'm having a little trouble setting up the remote control fot the PHILIPS SBC VL1400 tv sender i bought. I can't seem to control all my video devices from the upstairs tv. Please i need someone who is shit hot at this product before i ring the helpline number. Cheers. Cardiffboy.
Hi again, Well i thought i'd update you all with my results. I assembled the tv sender as instructed ans sure enough the video source was sent upstairs flicker free with awesome sound. However, i had alittle trouble getting the all in one remote to work from upstairs. Somehow it would operate the upstairs tv but not the sky. I decided to fit the infra red blaster cord as requested if problems were encountered. I'm happy to announce that i'm now able to control my sky, dvd and video from upstairs and switch betweeen them remotely. I'm chuffed to bits big style, who needs to pay an extra £10 a month to sky for multiroom? I can definately recommend one to anyone they're amazing. Enjoy. Cardiffboy
