Think I just about put the whole problem in the subject line!!!
This is the message I get when I check the film I downloaded with Avicodec

    Video : 3.89 GB, 4357 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 544*288 (16:9), DX50 = DivXNetworks Divx v5, unsupported

So I downloaded Divx 5 but it still doesnt play, is there anywhere I can get Divx v5 codec

    TIA

Well DivX5 should decode it fine. XviD and ffdshow can also handle it though if you want an alternative.

DX50 is the fourCC used for all DivX5 encodes. DivX v5 simply means DivX 5.x. If you want to know the exact version used it should be in the userdata tag.

There at least used to be a util by DivX called bigfix for install problems. You could try running that.

Haven't looked but DivX6 probably still uses DX50 as a fourCC. It would definatly support decoding it anyway.
