Is there a reason why you ran them thru AVI-Mux GUI (that is the app?), did they have sync problems?

I just ran one thru it, put it on a USB stick and put in in my Philips. It worked but I did notice one anomaly, I always get a 'reading index' message that goes to '100' before play starts. That didn't happen this time, there was just a long pause/blank screen. You may want to contact the author.

I used avi mux because the audio was out of sync and after it the file only plays for a few seconds then stops playback it does not just happen on my divx player it happens on my friends as well any idea why this is. What do you mean contact the author

It sounds like a bug in the application.
"contact the author" means send the owner / developer of
AVI mux/gui a message detailing your problem - perhaps he'll
    fix it.

Try virtualdub to resync the audio.
    Open the avi in virtualdub.
    Set video/direct stream copy

For example, assume the audio is one second early.
set audio / interleaving /audio skew correction to 1000.
(negative values if the audio is late rather than early)

    File/save as avi

I tried to use vdub for the resync process of an avi file that was 11ms out of sync after the process was finished i checked the sync again and it was worse it was 22ms out of sync why is that. Did i do the process wrong or something

Thanks for the update . 11ms is an extremely small amount to
be out - how did you even notice it?

Avi Mux has a tool that tells you if the audio is in synch or not?
How does that work? I'm intrigued now!

Yes avi mux tells you if your avi file is in sync or not and tells you exactly how much out of sync it is. Its great for checking my files before i convert them or put them straight onto data dvds so i don't have to find out afterwards that they're out of sync. Only problem is when i resync them with avi mux and burn them onto a data dvd they don't play on my divx player which is why i now use virtualdub to resync them.

Why not continue and remake the avi in avimux, takes about 30 second's. I alway's use it to check sync too (only constant show's) and also to join multiple files (about 1 minute). For sync, open or drag your file into the top window of AviMux_Gui, highlight it and select generate data. In the lower window, highlight audio and your sync in MS will appear to the right, if other than 0, select start, save and name as you wish and use that new file. Same with joining except you have to drag any file after the first into the top window, highlight the first and drag your cursor over any other to highlight them all, then select generate data, highlight audio and select start. Check sync in individual file's first and alway's use the new file you create. Super fast, vl binary 1.7.8 here: http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/amg/

I was using avi mux to resync the files again and they were fine if i was converting them with vso etc but they don't work as data dvds on my divx player. Thats why i use avi mux to check the sync and if i have to resync to put on a data dvd i use virutal dub. Takes the same amount of time to do as avi mux aswell
