It seams that I lose frame rate when I use winDVD to transer from my hc42. I am using a fire-wire and notice a significant quality loss when I playback from the hard drive, it doesn't look near as smooth as playback from the camera. I want my DVDs to look just like the tapes do, please help. Thanks. I have read the pages you have sugested as well but all they say is that with fire wire from my dv will have no quality loss, thanks again.
I had a thought while playing with it a bit, is this caused by the hc42s wide screen format? Do I need another program to transfer in 16:9 becuase windvd is in standard, or can I change windvd to 16:9? I hope so.
Are you directly encoding to MPEG-2 during capture? If you do, don't. First capture in DV-AVI format and encode to MPEG-2 for DVD later on.
YDM = You Da Man! I didn't know I could even do that, switched it up and now it is much smoother. Now how 'bout the widescreen???
Same thing. Check out this page for the whole process from tape to DVD: http://www.digitalvideoclub.com/basics/tapetodvd.php
