i just bought Sony 8x DRU-530A internal DVD±R/RW so i was wondering if it supports high density burns if not, i need to know which drives do, i searched all over google, and came out empty, not sure which drives use it also, how do i brn disks with the hd burn
Not sure what you mean by "High Density Burns". It will not burn 4x media at 8x as the Plexor PX-708A does. See the review at http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973,1408281,00.asp.
Hi damatrixz If you are looking for HD burning capabilities - the ability to burn 1.4G on a 700mb disc - you will need a Sanyo based laser system. These are currently found in Accesstek - http://www.accesstek.com.tw/_english/0_index.php and Optorite - http://www.optorite.com/_english/web/0_index/0_index.php?hSite=us These are the only burners I know that are capable of HD burning. I hope this helps PS Some of IO Magic drives - http://www.iomagic.com/ - are Optorite
so only 2 drives support that??? somebody told the sony is a rebadged oporite, and he was thinkinf of flashing it with oporite firmware. somebody else then said that sony locked the feature out of the hardware.
Hi damatrixz Actually its two product lines with 5 burners each - mind you Optorite and Accesstek have the same model numbers. Sanyo has finally come out with its own drive - do a google of HD burn for futher information. HD burn is great but you need a HD burner to play it back . I think it is a great idea that will die without further drive support. As the price of DVD discs drop, the chances of further support are thin. I think someone has confused Sanyo with Sony. Sony does have the "Power Burn" to stop buffer overruns. I hope this helps
