I have a Dell 4550 that I've relaced the main drive on, about 2 years ago. It now has a WD 120GB drive installed. Over time, the PC was running slower & slower, so I used Norton Systemworks to defrag the drive. Once the defrag was complete, the PC wouldn't boot up. It wouldn't accept a Windows repair function, using the original CD. I've pulled the drive out, put it in an external case, to see if I could salvage the data. In Wondows disk management, it is showing the drive as healthy, with no data or FAT32 file system. It takes forever to get the system to recognize the drive, but I also get an error saying "semaphore time out period has expired". What happened? Did my partition get wiped out somehow? Is there any way to salvage the data? (which I believe is still on the drive). Any help would be appreciated!
