    Hi Guys,
I have a Toshiba upconverting dvd player
    ( SD-4980)and I set it to play at 720P.
I bought an HDDVD Apollo 13 and when I
put it in the player all I get are the
    words "no valid disc".How come?
    Thank you for any help.

I could be wrong, but I think upscaling DVD players only play standard DVDs in high definition. If you want to play an HDDVD, you'll have to buy an HDDVD player. This could be why you got the "no valid disc" notice.

I believe that an upconverting dvd player is only intended to play regular dvd movies (not HDD) and upconvert them to near High definition quality. They do not play HD DVD, you need a HD DVD Player for that.

    Wow dvdS.L.S,

My friend you have to have an HD-DVD player to play HD-DVDs. Its impossible to play HD-DVDs and Blu-ray discs in DVD players for many reasons.

HDDVDs use h.264-not mpeg2-I don't know of any regular dvd players that are sold in the us that play h.264 although there is a chinise company called Gowell Industries that makes a few models that will-good luck on trying to contact them though-I sent them countless emails and never got a reply.
