I have a DVD which plays fine on my laptop but when I try to play it on the DVD player I get a message that 'HDMI audio not supported' - the video is fine.

I have never had this before, even old DVDs have played OK

I wondered if there was a way to copy the disc and add HDMI sound - I appreciate it will not be full quality but it would just make things a lot easier rather than adding more leads to the system for one or two DVDs

    Hello.

It seems either your player doesn't support the audio stream selected on the DVD or the TV doesn't support the audio stream from the player.

What DVD player do you have?
    What TV do you have?

Look at the HDMI settings in your DVD player setup menu. What setting is selected for HDMI audio? It should probably be PCM.

What audio streams are on the DVD? 5.1, DTS, LPCM?

There are problems out there with some upconverting DVD players and some TVs.
