HFury is short for Hybrid Fury. Thats my full nick name. Well, I'm new. I joined for a reason. I kno there's already a topic for this but I can't reply to it cuz it's over 60 days old. I wanna kno what kind of CDRW do I need for my plain Xbox to read burned music. I've tried Sony and Maxell and none of them worked. Do I need Staples? Memorex? What kind of cdrw do I need?

I pretty sure you can't play any burned disks on a non-modded xbox

i took the url outta my sig. (why is that a rule? no advertisement allowed or sumthin?) I'm sry. Just curious. Don't take it seriously or anything. Does a Xbox have to have a mod chip to read burned CD's? Will just any mod chip work?

Yea the rules state that advertsing sites are against the rules.....We know you didn't me any harm...Just read over the rules to get to no how this site operates....

    And back to question....

You don't have to have a modchip you can also softmod your xbox....But i would prefer the modchip.....A good modchip is the Xecuter 3CE

and how would I softmod my xbox? Is it legal? Is it safe? What is softmod? Does it require a mod chip? Ya see, I ain't got no money, which means I don't have the luxury of arming my xbox with a mod chip. I just want my Xbox to have music from a burned cd.

A softmod is a software modification, which means it is completely free.It is generally safe if you know what you are doing. Any time you modify or mess with an XBOX's firmware it is illegal.

I've gotten my Xbox to read burned music CDs, but the read rate was pathetic.

Depending on your Xbox disc drive, you may or may not be able to use burned CDs with it. If you have a Thomson, it's likely that nothing will read. I have one, and it was able to read CD-RW, but would read very slow slow like I mentioned before. It wouldn't read CD-R at all.

If you have a Philips or even better, a Samsung drive, you should be fine. The Samsung drive should be able to read CD-R as well.

Get a Verbatim CD-RW and hope for the best I suppose. I don't remember the brand of CD-RW I had because my brother's friend "borrowed it." Supposedly he lost it, and in return gave me a scratched CD-R...

yeah. How do I softmod my xbox? What tools will I need? What does it take to softmod my xbox? I can't afford a mod chip, so a softmod may be my only hope.

You don't need to mod your Xbox to play burned music CDs on it...

Like I said, get a Verbatim CD-RW and hope for the best. Burn slow and such.

Edit: Now I remember what CD-RW it was. It was an Imation. Don't know if that'll work for you or not, but it worked on my Thompson.

I don't know. I have this really sucky cd burner. It's called Roxio, and no matter how slow I burn the disc, It still won't read. My dad thinls that even if I buy a different and better CDRW, it will end with the same fate as the other cdrw's. "YOUR XBOX CAN'T RECOGNIZE THIS DISC. MAKE SURE IT IS NOT DIRTY OR DAMAGED AND TRY AGAIN. PLEASE CLOSE THE LID TO CONTINUE." Also, another important thing is that I don't have Splinter Cell, Mech Assault, Xbox Action Replay, or 007 Agent Under Fire. I used to have 007 Agent Under Fire, but it was the Platinum Hits version, and I heard the Platinum Hits version won't work. How do I softmod without those? I can't, right? Is there another way I can softmod my Xbox without taking it apart?

Are you thinking about modding your xbox so it will read the disks you're using??

By burned DVDs, I assume you mean DVD movie back-ups, correct?

While it's true that DVD-ROMs are backwards compatible, for whatever reason the Xbox DVD-ROMs have poor compatibility with CD-R/RW.

Using different brands does in fact make a difference, regardless of what anyone tells you. There's a definite difference in quality between brands, and being cheap can cause excessive wear on optical disc drives.

Something you may want to try is to update your burner's firmware to ensure maximum compatibility and burn quality. I used Roxio a bit when I first got my computer and it worked fine for music CDs.

As for soft modding, you can't use Platinum Hits. You also can't soft mod using an exploit save if you have XBL download content for the game you're soft modding with. Additionally, there's no other way to soft mod short of a hot swap, which requires the case to be opened.

Okay first off all this mod crap to burn a stupid CD to HD is ridiculous.. The xbox should read any and all cd's and cd'rs I have had no trouble what so ever.... UNTIL ===the burner".. for some reason sony burners do not agree with xbox. There are probably alot of other pos burners out there as well, It wasnt the disk or brand name etc.. it was the burner in my case. I created one over at my house and brought it to my brothers to rip a CD'R of his music he makes. It worked just fine, but when we tried it on his sony... :please put in a xbox disc; or "disc not read" on xbox etc.. I am sure there is many different combonations of doing this correctly thru the programs as well.. and i recommend you use DEEPBURNER, its free also use memorex they always work for me.

deep burner huh? I'll try it. I'll go get some Memorex cd's soon, but my dad still thinks that my xbox still won't read a disc just cuz of the quality and brand name of the disc. I hope this works cuz I have alot of music that I really want to put on my Xbox.

STAY AWAY FROM MEMOREX MEDIA. I can't stress that enough. You're just working against yourself if you get those...

    Get Verbatim...
