help connecting xbox to pc

could someone please tell me how to connect my xbox to my pc. I keep getting stuck. The xbox says check cables etc but they are connected fine. i have flashfxp ready, what else do i need?
Also am wanting to softmod my xbox, i have action replay, ethernet cable but i have a copy of splinter cell original but it is the "classics" version. will it still work. please help

 

You can't FTP until it's modded.

Also, you'll need the first version of Splinter Cell, not a rerelease.
