I have an avi file for which it does not play no audio at all, and the video is like it's on "pause" (it won't play continously as it should)I have tried every codec package i could think of that i thought would take care of the problem, currently i have the K-Lite Codec Pack 3.9.5, Elecard Codec SDK G4 Eval, and AVSynth 2.5 & KC Softwares Video Inspector installed as well. I've tried numerous players to which none of them either play the file or if it does play, it plays as if it's on pause (and i did check by pushing pause & play back n forth) I tried the main codec pack off of MATROSKAS website & that did'nt do it either? I tried that VL(whatever it is player as well) and although it's supposed to be able to play mkv files it did'nt play it either, now VIDEOinspector shows the file as needing: MPEG4 ISO Advanced (for Video) & for audio it showed: A_EAC3??? Can somebody help please, everything i've tried doesn't work for this file, thanks in advance.
Dear DaGman13, First of all, it's not advisable to install that many codec packs (even though I understand the frustration). You may just want to keep K-Lite Codec Pack (Mega Version) which I personally trust. Second of all, you may try convert the .mkv to other popular formats such as wmv or avi or encode to dvd with ConvertXToDVD or Winavi. Sometimes the video would play well with sound after the conversion. Good luck!
I do have the K-Lite Codec Pack (MEGA VERSION) installed, and i did try to encode with ConvertXtoDVD & the picture in "preview picture" would'nt even show, matter of it locked up after awhile & gave me the "Out of memory" error, any other suggestions? will look into trying to convert it into a avi file.
A hard one, hmmm. Maybe you could try Winavi, if still no luck, read the following posts: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_mkv_to_dvd_with_freeware.cfm http://www.videohelp.com/guides/how-to-convert-mkv-to-mpg-vcd-svcd-or-dvd-id670#670 Good luck!
Having other encoders (like ffmpeg) may conflict with ConvertXtoDVD since ConvertXtoDVD does use ffmpeg engine. Also the preview uses Direct 3D so you need DirectX v9.0c and latest video drivers for your video card. Did you see a Preview INIT Error in the logs ?
found some leftovers still under my program files of other codecs, plus maybe 1 or 2 that were'nt showing under control panel/uninstall, and even still, found another version of AC3 audio filter, deleted all of these remnants (as far as the AC3 audio filter-had that with the K-Lite Codec Pack full install) & now the file does play, audio&video both great, plus i installed Sonic Cineplayer, b4 installing that, i uninstalled & then reinstalled ffdshow & unchecked AC3 audio and it now plays perfectly with no problems. Question is tho now, i have'nt tried to burn this to disc yet, i'm just a lil leerie 'bout making some coasters.
