atreyumnd, do you still need help with that? Can you still play xbox games and load/save? If you can then you can try hotswapping.

msusan, what do you mean it was already modded? Did you do it yourself? The hard drive has to be in FatX format with the proper dashboard files on your C drive and an E drive as well. It also has to be locked to your xbox specific eeprom.

My son Modded the xbox first,He has done about 4 systems and didn't have a problem with them. This was not with a mod chip. We Bought a harddrive with lots of games from someone and want to place it in this xbox. so what do we need to do now? Do you have any suggestions for us. thank you. appricate your time and effort.

Well, hopefully the person you bought it from unlocked it. Assuming the drive is formated correctly and unlocked, this is what you will HAVE to do without a modchip.

    1) The first thing you will need is your xbox specific eeprom. If you already have it, meaning you made backups of the contents of your hard drive on your computer then you may already have it and you can skip to the next step. If not, you need to use one of the hard drives that work in your xbox to retrieve your eeprom.
    a) Use a program like Config Magic or EvoX to create a backup.
    b) You will then need to FTP to your xbox in order to retrieve it.

    2) Once you have it, download "Xboxhdm" or a similar xbox locking utility and there should be a folder to put it in. If you use Xboxhdm, which I would recommend, create an iso and burn that to a cd.

    3) You will now need to hook up the bigger hard drive to your computer and run the locking tool. Be sure to write down the key that the drive was locked with as it will be the only way to recover any data if you mess anything up.

After that, it should work by just plugging into your xbox. If you need any steps specified just ask.
