i have a dvr-109 and a sony dvd-rom. a couple months ago they both suddenly slowed way down. the 109 used to burn at least up to 12x, and they would both read at full speed as well. then they both just suddenly crapped out.... the 109 will now only burn at ~1.5x, and they both read super slow. they are both on the secondary channel, using an 80 wire cable. i have been through the dma/uninstall/reinstall process numerous times, but nothing changes. they are still in dma mode.... i even just tried the burner from another computer (after testing it on the other computer and having it burn full speed), and got the same results. firmwares are up to date. i just dont get it. i always used -r media, and then a couple days ago tried a +r and it worked at full speed, but then tried it a second and third time and it was slow again. its a solid computer... 2.8 pentium 4, 1gb ram, i always free up as much memory as possible. its weird. please help!
