    I have downloaded a file from Limewire and it cannot be deleted. When I try right-clicking it it gives me a drop down menu of: Play, Add to Now Playing list, Add to sync list, add to burn list, open with..., and send to..., but the file doesn't have the option to cut, copy, create shortcut, delete, rename, and view properties. If any of you know how to get rid of this file or have any suggestions, please post them because I really need the help. Thanks

    Hi.Remove all the stuff you want from limewires folder and then delete that folder with the file that you cant delete in.It worked for me.Then you just create another folder with the name limewire,exactily the same as the one you deleted.Then just carry on using limewire as usual. It is not dificult.At the beginning i thought it would be more dificult than it was.Let me know if it worked.Good luck.

    Ps:you have to be really carefull with the stuff you donwload from p2p's.

    @Joeva

    Yea,just create another my documents and cut and paste all your stuff in the new my documents and delete the other one.I tried lots of stuff and this is the easiest way of doing it.If you cant do like this you will have to use ms-dos but i dont know exactily how to do it,dont know how to explain it to you.
    Edit:i forgot to tell you taht that is spyware,faster you remove it from your pc better.

    The same hapenned to me with avi files,and i said to you it was spyware because when that hapenned to me i did lots of research on how to delete them and all of that.I saw it writen that the file was spyware.The same hapenned with mp3 files i donwloaded off limewire.Im saying it was spyware because i read about it.I read it so i assumed it relly was.But probably it is not.The reason you cant delete that one is because it is open.If you use the way i told you before you will be able to delete.

    Use programs like Azureus or Ares for P2P. Just make sure you have P2P virus shields.

    Joeva: just find a program like Delete on Boot. you select the file and set the program to delete the file before windows starts on the next boot. this takes care of just about every pesky little file known to man.

    I can help here. The issue is simply solvedas follows... Presuming the file name is very long, this is what causes the problem! (windows will not deal with file names greater than 255 characters (including directory address). Here's what you have to do:

    1. Cut the folder containing the file and paste it into the root directory (e.g. c:\ ) and rename the folder to "A" (or another single letter)

    2. Load MS-DOS (if you can't find it from the start menu, do a search for cmd.exe) -> the command prompt should show up.

    3. Type c:\ then press return/enter -> the command line will change to c:\

    4. Type cd A then return/enter -> c:\A should show

    5. This is the tricky part... Take the first 6 letters of the filename and add "~1" plus the extension (e.g. Americ~1.mpg )... this is the short hand for the file name you want to delete. Once u've worked that out, type this into the command line (replacing Americ~1.mpg for the equivalent of your filename)...

    rename Americ~1.mpg newfile.mpg

    So it'll look like:--> c:\A> rename Americ~1.mpg newfile.mpg then hit RETURN/ENTER

    6. Your file has been renamed... you can view or delete the file as normal now!

    I know it's been a while since you posted, but if it's still there... the problem is solved at last! ;-) Hope it works for you too.

    Hey,

    Simplest way would be to use Unlocker (great little tool), just right click and select "Unlocker", you then have the option of deleting it, couldn't be simpler.
