I have been trying to install xp pro in a desktop for a few days now. At first the monitor used to go on standby randomly. I found out later that it was the graphics card driver. To reach this conclusion i must of reinstalled xp at least 4 times. Now the Local Area says enabled even though it's unplugged!!!

    Please advise

    Start>Connect to>Show all connections

Right click your LAN connection, click disable.
