me and my friend are trying to figure something out. does component play 1080p like HDMI? because ive seen on websites that are selling componet cables say thell play 1080p And if so which is better? thank you.
Your friend is correct. You can transmit 1080p thru component. The problem is finding an HDTV that can accept 1080p thru component as very few do like the Samsung HL-S5087W. The XBox 360 can transmit 1080p thru component if the game is rated 1080p. There are also a few DVD players that send 1080p thru component like the Helios H4000: We discussed this topic last year here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/439174
The bogey is correct. I read somewhere that Microsoft used those Samsung DLP's to test their software when they implemented 1080p on the 360 thru component and VGA last year.
It really depends on your setup and a lot of different factors such as source signal, cable quality etc. There are instances when you will not see any difference. Most people I know who own HDTV's prefer HDMI.
