Hi, I've just recently start using TMPGEnc for encoding avi files. I have succesfully converted an avi file into mpeg, so I know that TMPGenc is doing what its supposed to do. Now, I have just downloaded another avi file. However, when I tried using TMPGenc to encode this particular file, its giving me this error message "File cannot open, or unsupported." Anybody ever has this problem before? Any suggestions? I think it might be the avi file, but I have no problem opening and viewing this file using Windows Media Player. One more thing, I tried using VirtualDub 1.4.13 to split the file (because its over 700MB). However, whenever I tried to open this file, VirtualDub always does this "Reconstructing Missing Index block" -AVI import filter. Afterwards, VirtualDub gives an AVI-Import-Filter-Warning, which says "Warning: VirtualDub has reconstructed the index for this file, but you have not specified rekeying in the extended open dialog." Please help me, any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, Cindy
hi cindy.i used to have that problem as well.you could try this.open up tmpgenc and close the wizard.goto option and then go to environmental settings and then go to vfapi plugin and right click on them all and change the priorities to 0 except for direct show multimedia file reader you change that one to 2.and have them all ticked.see how you go with that and let us know.i'm still learning to. chris
i too had this prob after using tmpg for a while b4 re-installing my comp, i think you have one of 3 probs, either you dont have the correct codecs installed (try installing nimo pack FULL install) or on the same vein, u are trying to encode TMD movies w/out the TMD codec or the thing that sorted mine out after all these unsupported msg's it was the AC3 sound (in the divx) and although many ppl say u have to rip the sound and re-encode it all i did was remove the tick from the evnviromental settings/general enable multiplex blah blah (the top option iunder general. i amy be wrong as i am very new to this and very much have been a trial and error learner along with some very usefull articles on this site, although mainly trial and error as the 1st forum i used they all used to `flame' ppl for asking what `they' considered to be simple questions and i have been trying to avoid that, but this forum seems VERY friendly with gr8 mods/boss so good luck m8 cJa
