I am already familiar with backing up DVD Disks but have some old VCD Films and would like to put them on a DVD disk with their own menu so I could say put 3 or 4 films on one disk can anyone help me to create a menu which program is best is it as I do not want to make one big Mpg2 DVD format file.

If you have Nero then NERO Vision Express is the best way to do this.
Its pretty self explanitory (thats probably not a word :) LOL

Recently I have been trying to do a similar thing.
I have 93 music clips that is around 4gig worth all encoded in vcd format, but I can but a dvd with vcd format. Can any one help

Ps. Nero express will try and convert any file you put in it into a dvd standard there making my clips around 18gig big.

I've transferred virtually all my VCDs to DVD. Ok step by step.

You need vcdgear, tmpgenc encoder, tmpgenc dvd author, nero 5 (upwards) for this guide.

    1) Use vcdgear to convert your VCD .dat files to proper MPEG-1(.MPG). DAT files are MPGs with extra
    info.

    2) Use tmpgenc encoder, go to mpeg tools under file and
join your two MPGs for the film into 1 large MPG (Not really necessary as your dvd player will load the next file anyway, but it will save you space I got an extra 200Mb on 1 dvd)

    3) Use tmpgenc dvd author

a Click on create new project
    b Click on add file
c Select MPG file and click ok
d Click on settings in left hand window
and change untitled track 1 to the name of
    the film
e Now click on add new track
f repeat the process from step b for all your
mpgs until the capacity at the bottom reaches
    about 4.2Gb

    g Click on Create menu
h Add a name at the top for your dvd and
resize the font if the name of yor film is
too long and doesn't fit into menu properly
i Click on the window next to each film name
and use the slider to select a nice pic from
    the film for menu.
j Make sure Display main menu is selected under
    firstplay action

Click on CREATE OUTPUT and your MPGs will be
encoded to VOBS and put into a folder called
TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR and placed in My Documents
    on C Drive.

    4) Finally open NERO, select DVD-VIDEO, Click NEW
Drag the contents of TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR\VOLUME 1\
VIDEO_TS from the right window to VIDEO_TS in the
left window and click on burn. You don't need to do
    anything with the AUDIO_TS folder.

Oh yes ONE IMPORTANT POINT YOU CANNOT MIX NTSC AND PAL
MPGS ON ONE DVD. So its either gotta be all PAL or all
    NTSC.
