thread title renamed to be more meaningful - "Hey help me please" doesn't mean anything to anyone

Man that's crazy lol.I hate to say this but you will never use any of this crap in real life. That's why it doesn't matter if you cheat on this particular one.

You may not use it in real life, but if you are to progress to the next level of math you will be lost if you don't learn how to do it. Many people see Math as being more complicated than it really is. Just think of it as a game, a puzzle.

well basically you have a function, F(x) that when you plug into an equation will give you some number. I am not the best at explaining things (sorry).

ok so looking at number 1 we have:
    X f(x) = x2 (x squared) f(x) (x, f(x))
    -2
    -1
    0
    1
    2

you have to plug your numbers in. actually the chart gives you everything you need for coming up with your answer for the last column

    F(x) = x2 (x2 is a parabola and looks like a horseshoe)
    so when you plug F(2) = x2
    you get F(2) = 2 x 2

so in the column f(x) you put "4"

the last column is just so you can plot your points. so given this function when (x = 2, f(x) = 4)
    or more simplified, (x,y) = (2,4) that is the point on the graph when x = 2, y = 4

    0 squared is simply 0 (0,0)

-2 would be (-2,4) when you square a negative, it turns positive
    so (-2) X (-2) = 4

your chart sshould look like this now, couldn't get everything to line up the same way as your chart, should be easy to understand though
    [bold]x[/bold]
    -2
    -1
    0
    1
    2

    [bold]f(x) = x2[/bold]
    f(-2)= -2 x -2
    f(-1)= ? x ?
    f(0) = 0 x 0
    f(1) = ? x ?
    f(2) = 2 x 2

    [bold]F(x)[/bold]
    4
    ?
    0
    ?
    4

    [bold](x,f(x))[/bold]
    (-2,4)
    (-1,?)
    (0,0)
    (1,?)
    (2,4)

the next problem is a little harder but we have the same concept....
so just go through your numbers for x (-3,-1,0,1,3) and plug them into your function f(x) = (-2x2 + 3)

so real quick i'll do one

    f(-3) = (-2x2 + 3)
    = (-2) X (-3) X (-3) + 3 which is the same as (-2) X (9) + 3
    = (-18) + 3
    = -15 (answer) for when x = -3, f(x) = -15
your point on the graph is (-3, -15)

the last section, again more of the same

    f(-4) = -x2 - 5
    = -(-4)(-4) - 5 which is the same as -(16) - 5
    = -16 - 5 = -21 (answer)
your point on the graph would be (-4,-21)

i really hope i am right, cause that would be pretty bad if i wasn't. hopefully that helps, if you understand this then comeback for tomorrow's lecture, and don't be late! ;)

dammit after reading this i could have clarified things better...

well before you guys get wrapped up in a p*ss*ng contest, you should just take a step back and relax. pimpmex, you fixed the size of your sig, which at the time was quite large, and thecraigc was only helping you out.....

however the comment made about "EASY" homework was not necessary. things don't always come naturally or easily to everyone. also and i am POSITIVE that everyone at some point in their lifetime had a crap teacher, which only makes subjects harder. i am not saying that is the case here, but there are numerous variables that can impact individuals as they progress through their education(personal, social, mental, physical, health etc). i'd cut the guy some slack, not everyone is as fortunate as you apparantly are.

i guess this is a technical forum, but this thread is meant for just about anything so, pimpmex if you have any other questions don't be discourage to post them. i am sure myself or anyone else would be happy to help.

buddy, you really just need to search and read. this stuff gets answered all the time; if you don't learn to search thoroughly first, you're going to be nothing but a target for the less patient members around here.
