I have a Sharp camcorder, from like 1995 or around there. It has no usb support of any kind and the only cord i have is a headphone size to rca imput(to plug into vcr). It used 8mm cassete tape. Is there any way to transfer media from it to my laptop, wich has an s-video port on it? Any help is greatly appreciated. BTW im using toshiba sattelite with vista, but i do have an older xp desktop machine that i could use and then just transfer video, w/e is easier.
You will need a capture device to get it to your computer. If you can, plug that old Sharp into your VCR, and record the old tape. You would then plug your VCR into the capture card, in your computer, and capture from the VCR. The quality may not be all that good, but you will at least have it on your computer. The best bet for a capture device may be a Dazzle device from Pinnacle.
This caprture card is this combatibil with laptop or is the card to big for the slot and have to be used on my desktop?
If you get the Dazzle, from Pinnacle, it is an external device that plugs into a USB port. You don't have to open your laptop.
