I'm working with Windows xp home and DVD shrink with Nero, but can't backup on this particular computer. When I run Nero drivespeed/infotool it clearly identifies the media in my Philips DVD +/- R writer. The problem is, when I go into "My Computer" and look at the drives, they both look empty as if the OS is not sensing/acknowledging them. Not sure what to do...thoughts?
In my case, using Windows Explorer, XP ignores blank DVD's completely. A previously burned DVD's properties shows zero used and zero free;only when opened will it list the files and folders. Since XP does not support DVD burning, but other programs like Nero or ImgBurn do, then it's not a problem.
Problem is, my DVD's or blanks don't show up in DVD Shrink's browser...I have been running DVD Shrink and Nero on my other computer for a long time with no problems.
what OS are you running? have you tried ripping with DVDFab HD first, then open those files with shrink? and if you try and open blank media with shrink its not going to open because it is blank.(if i understood your post) there needs to be a movie for shrink to open a disk. also check to see if you firmware is up to date? it also might be that the dvds don't open in shrink because of copy protection issues.
