I am building a budget micro atx computer. The motherboard is a MSN-MX PLUS X series which has an on board video card. The processor is a AMD Athlon 64 x2. I have connected everything properly according to the manual. When I power on the system all the leds lights turn on and all three fans are spinning. The only problem I'm having is nothing comes up on the display and I have a keyboard connect to one of the ubs the keyboard is not responding when I hit the caps or num lock key. The leds lights on the keyboard dont turn on. I thought maybe the motherboard was defected, so I tried a different motherboard to only have the same result and I also tried another power supply. I can't figure out what the problem is. Can someone please give me insight. Thanks.
If you tried the CPU & ram with a different power supply & mainboard (I assume these are already tested working), and you had nothing else installed in the system...your problem is either the CPU or the ram. Try pulling the ram out of a working system & putting the ram you are trying in it's place. If the system will not post, you know the ram is bad. Of course, connect only what you need to post...no drives/USB headers/etc... ...I am guessing bad ram; AMD CPUs (and Intel except for the Q6600) are much more reliable than the ram for a budget system.
