Hey, I searched Google for some information on how to rip a DVD and extract the video files onto your hard drive. Now, I know that this is possible, but once I put it onto to my external hard drive will I be able to simply search the file and start it up in Windows Media Player quickly? I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I searched AfterDawn and I didn't see anything. If you don't understand my question I can gladly elaborate. Oh, and if this is possible, can someone link me to an appropriate program to do this for me? Whether being freeware or paid. Thanks.
When backing up your DVD movie disc, you basically need a Decrypter to rip the files to your HDD. As you are aware the DVD disc has copy prevention technology. It's crucial you use an updated program such as DVD FAB Decrypter. This app is still freeware for the basic version. I personally use AnyDVD and CloneDVD by Slysoft. These apps are not free. For more info on software and how to use them, go HERE. Don't just rely on a certain program to get you through, the more tools you have in your arsenal the better. One last pointer, use high quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and burn at speeds no faster than 8X. If you use cheaper media......expect problems. Good luck and happy burning.
