I've done my googling and have found nothing that has helped me, so far. Basically I bought a new drive installed Win XP Pro SP2 (the one I'm using right now has Home SP2). I installed my Speedtouch modem, managed to connect to the net. But when I open IE or any other browser- or make any type of connection to the net like msn messenger. Nothing works, IE seems to say the error "Page cannot be displayed... DNS error". Can anyone please help me fix this prob as I can't live without the net and HAVE to put the HDD to use. Since this one is 20gb.

I can't visit ANY site or server not just the secure ones.

    edit--
BTW I also can't open XP firewall options (run--> firewall.cpl) it comes up as, windows cannot start the windows firewall/ ICS. Becuase I read somewhere I need to enable HTTP and HTTPS in the firewall settings to fix the prob, but the firewall can't be accessed :(

SpeedTouch modem = DSL connection ?

There could be quite a few things not setup properly ! Best you call your ISP who normally have Technicians available on the phone to help you go thru the setup procedure !

DSL yep, ISP can't help cos they didn't supply the modem, it was previous ISP and I seriously doubt anything is wrong with the setup of the modem cos it's exactly as it was done on this drive and this works perfectly fine.
