Ok so I'm new to the DS and would like to get a flash card

the only features I'm really interested in is playing DS backups (roms) because although listening to music, viewing texts and whatever is interesting I have other gadgets for that

as well I'm not to interested in action reply cheats either so thats not really a selling point for me

so far after some research I've come the conclusion that a R4DS revolution (version 2) would be good for me but i'm still torn between m3 DS real and cycloDS but the cyclo high price has turned me off that and the comments about m3 DS not fitting well in the DS slot 1 has made me turn away from that

but theres still all those other cards out there like Acekard 2 and DSTT. In other words is R4DS a good choice. It seems to be talked about alot on the forums. and one of the more popular ones

As well I'm from canada and I think im gonna buy it from systemgears.com (which is in canada) because they don't charge shipping and the prices that have on there site are including tax so it ends up being a R4 Revolution (English Ver.2) + 2GB Micro SD (Kingston) for $62.99 which from my research seems to be not bad of a price. Unless you go with winsunx but I've heard some things about them that turn me off, plus shipping from china will probably be expensive.

    Anywayz Any input is appreciated

get the DSTT EXCELLENT for the price!!! Also is HDSC compliant :)

www.Dealextreme.com cheapest site on the net and most reliable. However if you dont pay for express it takes 3 weeks. So pay the express ship;ping 15 bucks or so

ok well I've taken your suggestions into consideration and now i'm thinking either R4DS revolution or Acekard 2

I like the Acekard 2 but a trip to their forums leads to lots of bugs and complaints while R4 just seems more reliable

not taking prices into consideration what would you guys recommend?

Also any body from canada use dealextreme, how long do you think it will take to ship to toronto. Are the cheap prices worth the wait and the possibilities of having to pay duties to customs or getting it confiscated or held for awhile

R4 more reliable? dont think so... every card have issues... the Acekard team always fix bugs very quickly and having a forum for bugs report is great for that.

if you look at the threads in this forum, do you see many acekard problems? most threads i see here are M3, dstt, r4 issues.. like i said all cards have issues but they can be fix with new firmware.

Personally for me there is just one choice, the cyclo ds evo. I live in uk and the prices here for those are only around £5 more than an R4. Having used both I would go for the cyclo over the R4 everytime.

I know this probably doesn't help you much either (but for the uk heads) play.com is doing a Kingston 4GB SDHC class 4 (so it's fast) card for £9.99 delivered (since all delivery is free at play.coM). Decent.

as a proud owner of r4ds , m3ds real , dstt , edge ds and itouch ds i can recommend them all , they have all worked as they should so far without any probs .( me and the little uns can use them easily enough )

i also second buying from dealextreme its probably the cheapest website ive found and normally 2 weeks delivery to the uk.

also if you buy a flashcart that supports sdhc memory ( m3ds real , dstt , edge ds , itouch ds etc........ ) i would recommend getting a good brand such as kingston , a-data etc..... class 4 or 6 , class being the speed of the memory . faster the better .

hello mate they are for me , wife and the kids and yes they all do the same thing in that they play roms .

r4ds was the first we bought and has been excellent played 99% of roms so far , but it is getting a bit dated and is limited to 2gb memory .

the new ones we bought m3ds real , edge ds , dstt and itouch ds are all sdhc memory compatible meaning 4gb , 8 gb and so on ..... it was just a case of buying different types to see how fast they were at loading roms , compatibility , reliability , build quality etc....

all are very easy to use by me or the little uns and all work brilliant so far without any probs .

    woof811.

ps. there are reviews here if you want an indepth look at how each compares and performs - http://gbatemp.net/index.php?dynamic=8

I own a few NDS flash cards as well, including R4 DS / AceKard2 / CycloDS / DSTT.

I dont even realized that I bought that many until I really count them one day. Sometimes, dealextreme.com sells them for so cheap that its hard to resist not purchasing them. Just look at the price of Acekard 2 and DSTT, I am sure they are the cheapest out of all retailers.

Too bad that they do not have R4 DS when I plan to purchase them a while ago (at that time, not even volumerate offers single pcs order for some reason). Just like the OP planned, I purchased my R4 DS off systemgears.com since I live in Canada myself and they offer free shipping + no tax, delivered to my door within 2 days. Quite impressed.

    Its never bad

Try Dangbox.com , they are located in Toronto and they are currently selling the R4 for $34.99 (after $5.00 discount coupon) and you get a Free 1gb Micro SD, pretty sweet deal :)
