Whenever I play my backups of my dvds, the movie plays perfect until it gets towards the end of the movie. Around that time it starts to break up into cubes and to lock up and freeze. I have a Pioneer A04 that I've had for a year. I use smartripper, dvd2one and prassi primo dvd to backup. I also tried other software such as dvdxcopy express, etc, but it did the same thing. I tried playing the backups on several dvd players, but no change. My firmware version was 1.30, after I started having problems I upgraded it to version 1.41. The problem started a week ago. I've always used verbatim dvdr 2X. I'm running windows XP with 768meg sdram, 1.7gig intel processor. If anybody has any ideas, please contact me, I've tried everything, but a hammer.

I didn't know it was possible to downgrade the firmware, but I'll look into it. I had been using the burner for a year with no problems and that was with firmware version 1.30. I do appreciate the help.....Thanks.

I.ve downgraded my firmware to version 1.31 and I 'm still having the same problem. Could it be a dirty laser lens or could the laser be out of alignment? After I author my dvd with "DVD2ONE" I played the last two vob files and they play perfect, but after I burn it to a dvdr it always locks up and breaks into blocks during the last few chapters. Thanks for your time.

I have a Pioneer A05 dvd-r burner. I have had it for about a year. I installed it, everything was working fine and now all of a sudden it's not in my comupter folder. I uninstalled and installed it. I have updated it. I have tried everything. Does anyone have any ideas?
