I'm having a strange problem playing any sort of DVD movies on my PC. I play them through either Windows Media Player or Real Player, and they had worked fine until a week or so ago. However, now when I go to play DVD's with either player, I get the sound, but instead of a picture I get a black screen. I've tried using the troublshooter for the problem in WIndows Help, but nothing worked. I'm using Windows XP, and it's up to date with the latest service packs. My player's are completely up-to date as well. So, can anyone provide me with any sort of solution to this problem. Thanks very much
Download the K-Lite Codec Pack (search the forums) (Sometimes DVDs have codecs on them) Check the DVD, make sure it isn't horrendously scratched or scuffed Download VLC Media Player (videolan.org , search google) Please post your results here
The new codecs didn't help to solve the problem. I know that it's not a problem with the discs because I've tried using multiple DVD's, plus I keep them all in great condition. However, VLM Player worked when playing DVD's, so I'm going to use it for now. I'm also going to try uninstaling and reinstalling Windows Media Player and Real Player to see if this solves the problem.
