the downloaded file type isn't compatible with the Sony DVD player and it is with the JVC. you can convert the file to work on the Sony yes

sounds like your sony dvd player don't like dvd-r, go to videohelp.com and put your model number of your sony dvd player and it will tell you what your player will or won't play as far as formats and disk type, good luck

Check your TV standard, PAL/NTSC. My JVC plays either, Sony's usually do not.

You can usually run a VOB through Gspot and it will tell you what it is.
