    hi

I have just subscribed to basic v services and wondered if it was possible to get a splitter and connect it to a starview 7 or similar box and would I get the other channels?

yes, a decent splitter, not on of those plastic ones and look at the Kryptview A780, better box and no time limit on them, SV only last 12 months

Thanks for your reply Mickah. would the kryptview A780 still have to be connected via LAN or would it just feed off the v signal from the splitter?

all boxs now require a lan connection, so look at homeplugs if yer tv is not beside the router and ya dont want cables all over the place

oki I imagine its means that virmin will see the packets that get sent between my box and lan connection then.

they can see what the want, all they will see is packet data going to and fro, aint you they want, so I wouldnt be overly concerned, boxs have been running since last Jan/Feb 09

cable lan boxes jan 09? 10 i think you mean? maybe wrong tho. got my 780 in feb last year and it was the one before any online updates. but yeah they are safe to use no point getting a vpn or hide ip or mac address. work like the old boxes but not all ppv is shown ( but more than the sv as they dont buy events). also i suggest that you read a guide by the man above (MICKAH) about these lan boxes
