Hello (I'm new to this) I bought an LG DVD Burner in March that came with "Nero 7 SmartStart Essentials" software. I've never been able to burn a DVD because Nero designed the Nero 7 to reject all files stored in my folders. When I click "Burn an Image to DVD", the Browsing window opens to select a file(s) from a folder such as My Documents or Downloads, etc. The "files of type" is set to choose from "All supported Comps or Images", which means "absolutely No files whatsoever". If you drop to select from "All files" (in the folder), a message appears stating "Not supported by Nero express". During the free trial of Nero 10 I had tried, "ALL files" were accepted (supported) and allowed to be burned. This seems to be a tricky gimmick to buy the costly Nero 10, by making Nero 7, which appears simple to use, actually useless. A tutorial (on You Tube) has users being able to gather a file from their folders & burn them utilizing the same Nero 7 depicted. Nero on-line would not respond to my emailed inquiries asking if there is an amending, plug-in, or accessory download which I can obtain, that will allow my Nero 7 to be functional, and burn DVDs of files which I have stored in My Documents folder? Any help or suggested advise would be most appreciated. Thank you very much! Joe
Instead of Nero, try the free application DVD Flick. On the top menu, click 'Guide' to read the simple steps to creating (and optionally burning) a DVD.
Thank you Attar for the comment. I have tried DVD Flick lately, but it has inherent problems for me. The first (sometimes other) title always freezes when trying to play back, and a back up copy is always impossible to burn. I also don't know if the out of sync tendency is due to the files, since they play fine when played from the folder....I wasted about 20 discs this week alone. I assume "auto-fit" means the fastest highest quality speed is automatically set. Also, titles can't be merged as one title, but that's tolerable. The freezing constantly & impossibility to make a copy due to damaged title is perplexing however. At the moment, it's all I have to use, since there's no other option.
I assume this is some sort of (free??) download. Possibly an alternative to DVD Flick. Hopefully a safe download. My computer is already on the edge, since it's so slow & crashed in Feb. losing all files - but had it fixed. Apparently we have to download two or 3 exe of software to make this FAVC thing work. I'll see if there are notes from others who tried & if it works with Windows XP. Thanks again for all your help & consideration. best wishes! Joe
