Help Removing Music but Kepping Sounds/Effects

    I have a few clips from some DVD's I wanted to make a small disc with some favorite scenes. The have already been converted too mpg 2 compliant DVD video mode. I want to take the background music out of these files and leave the voices/sound effects in. I am lost on how this can be done. I have Adobe Audition 1.5 and understand how to silence parts if I want no sound, but I do not know how to take music out and leave everything else in. Can someone help me or provide a link to a program with directions on how this can be done? I have tried Audacity, SoundForge, Adobe Audition, etc.... Once I get the music out of these files I want to mix my own back in which I believe is the easy part. Any help would be appreciated.

    It's hard to work out without a lot of filtering.
