Much to my dismay, this cd is protected by macrovision (it says that on the interactive prompt). You are only allowed to burn the cd 3 times. The cd does not have any MP3 (or any other type's of media) files. I tried using one of the 3 backup's I can use... and still nothing. I want to use these songs on my mp3 player, and can't. Has anybody seen this before, and how can I get around that?
I've got a similar problem with Korn's new albumn 'See you on the other side' The program on the cd allows you to rip the cd to protected wma files, i've tried to rip it using various programs but they either don't 'see' the cd in the drive or when the music is ripped it 'stutters', part of the protection i think.
You two should read this thread = http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/70597 It gives many ways to get around copy protected cd's.
I looked at that. However it doesn't seem to address this type of protection. Mind you, I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about, as this is the first time I've ever encountered any protection on a music cd. I'm going to try and play the cd, and then record what is playing. Not sure if this will work, but it's worth a try.
EAC is one of the programs i tried. It couldn't 'see' the cd. Doesn't matter anyway, i found the album on a torrent site and downloaded it. And yes i'm keeping the original just in case anyone is wondering. I only needed to rip the tracks into itunes (for my ipod), cuz i hardly ever listen to my music at home. I always buy official music and this is the first time i've downloaded any.
