I just bought 2 NEC 16x internal dvd writers for my rather new gateway computer. I hooked up one as the master and the other as a slave but neither recognized. So then i unpluged the slave and the master worked. Are you allowed to have 2 dvd writers hooked up internaly and if not can you have just a standard dvd rom drive as a slave in addition to the writer?? It makes backing up my movies so much easier for me because i am allways on the run..
2 dvd-rw drives should be no problem. Make sure you use the 80 wire cable. You may have a 40 wire cable and that could be holding you up. If those drives came with the flat ribbon cable, use it.It should be 80 wire. I've got a separate dvd-rom drive along with my benq on my secondary channel. I have the rom drive as master and benq as slave.I've also had them switched the opposite and performed the same.
I got it working finally. I didn't know there were pins in the back of the drives in wich I was supposed to set 1 being the master and 2 being the slave. know I have the power to back up my movies and not have to come back until it is done!!
Glad you got her going. It is very nice having dual drives.Set it and forget it! In those pins, you also have cable select. Some pc recommend using them. Good Luck! Way to go Bucks!!!!!!!!!!
