Hi I hope I'm in the right place. I am a real newbie and need some help. I had a holiday movie on DV video. I then copied it to DVD via a stand alone DVD recorder, not on my PC but a VHS recorder replacement. Now I have a DVD disk with the holiday movie. I DL a trial version of Ulead and figured I could edit my movie by copying it to the HD of my PC. Unfortunately I cant do things like add titles, chapters etc. I think the DVD is not in the correct format. I dont have a capture card so I did it this way. Is there any way, hopefully simply that I can turn this holiday DVD into something I can edit and author ? Thanks heaps.
If it was recorded to a dvd-ram disk, it's probably in the DVD-VR format. TMPGENC DVD Author pro can import this type of file. http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tda20.html An alternative is to copy the file (it's the biggest one on the dvd) to your hard drive and rename it as an .mpg file, then import it into one of the many progs which can author dvd's using mpeg files. Note:this only works if your PC's DVD burner/player can read a disk from a stand alone recorder.
Thanks heaps, I'll try what you said because a. its clear b. it makes sense c. it sounds not too difficult for a newbie Cheers
