I am having a difficult time capturing to PC. I got an inexpensive capture card online that has the red/white/yellow AV adapters. The software came with ULEAD Movie maker. I'm able to capture vhs video through my VCR onto the PC that looks ok. However when I turn this video from PC hard drive to DVD it looks horrible. It's blurry and fuzzy. I must be doing something wrong. I'm not quite sure if it's my capture card or if it's my settings on the U-Lead. I have a standalone dvd recorder but it's too much work. I'd much rather be able to go directly to my PC. If anyone can help please let me know. Thanks.
If the capture video looks good on PC and crappy on DVD then the application used to convert it to DVD is guilty of it. I capture with DVD Xpress. It originally came with ULEAD software but I wasn't able to do much with it. Luckily my laptop came with Sonic MY DVD, which has a nice and simple DVD creation feature. I'm not saying ULEAD is to blame in your case, but I would try to download a trial of some other application to see if it works better.
To get quality you have to capsure the video at high quality. For DVD use 720x480 and 8000kbs (6000kbs may be OK). If your software and hardware can not capsure at these rates yoo probably will not get good quality.
