I currently own the Sony DVD+ and - RW/R DRX-500UL External USB 2.0. After using the supplied software "MyDVD" I have found it very cumbersome. After trying to use Nero Buring ROM 5.5.94 or Prassi PrimoDVD 2.0 they both cannot recognize the drive. I then proceeded to Windows XP (Home) Control Panel Settings, Device Manager, pulls up as a regular CD-ROM/DVD Drive. No label saying it's a Sony DRX-500UL, etc. My configuration is a Fujitsu P Series Notebook with built in Sony CD-RW/DVD-ROM CRW-800U. How do I get XP to recognize this and how do I take advantage of burning DVD's in Windows? With other software?
Nero supported recorders: http://www.nero.com/en/content2/recorderS.html#SONY Yours is the "external" DRU-500A so you probably need to upgrade to 5.5.9.11B. Get the 5.5.10.0 version.
