Okay, every time I run xboxhdm and try to unlock my HD I keep getting an error saying that it can’t find my EEPROM in my bootable CD. It doesn’t make sense since I put my backup EEPROM in my linux/eeprom folder. Can anybody help me find out why this keeps happening?

    This is what I did
    - Used ConfigMagic to create a back up EEPROM
    - Unzipped xboxhdm_v1.9
    - FTPed backup EEPROM over to my /linux/eeprom/ folder
    - Transfer C and E folders from stock HD
    - I run make-iso-win.bat
    - burn it using Nero

    -Removed all my HD’s
-Made my soon to be xbox hd master select
    -restart comp
    -Select Option to Unlock HD
-“ERROR…can not find EEPROM. Please specify eeprom location”

    Thanks for the help.

As theridges said you dont need to unlock your new drive. You will have to lock it after installing the new Xbox HDD parameters on the new drive.

I had a problem before locking the HDD with the CD disc I made. What i had to do is copy my EEprom to a floppy disc and then went to lock the drive and seleted get EEprom from removable disc or whatever the option was to get it off my floppy.

My HD is a used computer HD. Correct me if I'm wrong...since it was used, does that mean that it was locked to the motherboard?

I'd do the floppy disc EEPROM but I didn't buy a floppy disc drive for my computer. =(

I'm just going to try it with a new HD. Thanks for the help.

No it is not locked. The only way it would be locked is if you locked it before. Xbox usses a locked HDD system where computers HDD are not locked.

did you try formating the HDD to the Xbox HDD permeters?

You should not have to unlock the drive it should be unloacked already.

run the program then lock the drive after formating the HDD to the Xbox HDD perameters.

No, I have not formatted my HD to Xbox parameters. How exaclty is this done? Is this done with xboxhdm?

Okay, since I do not need to unlock anything here is my next question. I can't seem run xboxhdm because after I type "xboxhdm". The program tells me I'm missing some files in the /hda/ folders and the program loops out. I cannot choose any option but to reboot. Any help please?

Go to the link below and folow the directions. (you will see that they dont tell you to unlock the drive your replacing with the orignal Xbox HDD because it is already unlocked)

It says you need a blank hard drive.

But you dont need it blank xboxhdm_v1.9 should format over whatever is on the drive.

If you want you can always format the drive before using xboxhdm_v1.9 to make the drive blank.

Okay, that's the same website I've been following.

Like I said before, my only problem is booting up xboxhdm.

I can get to the main menu. I press option 1. Then I type in xboxhdm.

After that I get an error saying something is missing in folders "/hda/" and the program can't boot up xboxhdm. Then the program loops out and I have to reboot my computer. I've tried multiple burns and it still won't work.
